Associate Director of 3-4 Curriculum and Assessment
Location: New York, NY

POSITION
The Associate Director of 3-4 Curriculum and Assessment is an essential member of the Uncommon Curriculum and Assessment Team and will focus on all content areas in the 3-4 grade span. The Associate Director of 3-4 Curriculum and Assessment will drive the highest quality grades 3-4 curriculum and assessment through the following responsibilities:

Data Driven Instruction
• Analyze network-level data on grades 3-4 Math and ELA IA’s to identify network goals and trends, including differentiated regional analysis from January-June.
• Create network level action plans to address grades 3-4 Math IA and ELA IA data
• Adapt network instruction to address grades 3-4 Math IA and ELA IA data
• Oversee creation of data responsive materials to network grades 3-4 Math IA and ELA IA data such as reteach lessons and state test prep scope and sequences 

DCI Development
• Grow elementary DCIs and DCI Fellows through observation feedback of daily data meetings, data analysis meetings, professional development, curriculum and assessment, observing and meeting with ES DCIs
• Support with DCI and DCI Fellow Evaluation Process for ES DCIs and DCI Fellows
• Participate in ES DCI and DCI Fellow Immersion Days for new DCI and DCI Fellow Candidates 

Curriculum & Instruction
• Own grade-level curriculums including writing/revising the scope and sequence and minute-by-minute lesson plans
• Manage curriculum & revisions for grades 3-4 including curriculum planners
• Plan and manage grades 3-4 curriculum rollout-meetings
• Research latest curriculum for grades 3-4 and integrate best practices into Uncommon curriculum
• Manage yearly pacing calendars and scopes and sequences for the network for grades 3-4
• Work collaboratively with ACOOs and Technology to action plan instructional technology needs for the network and communicate to DOOs/Principals for grades 3-4
• Communicate important curriculum, instruction and assessment dates, deadlines and revisions for grades 3-4 to the Director of Curriculum Management and/or relevant stakeholders
• Drive annual strategic planning for grades 3-4 curriculum including action steps, owners, and timelines and ensure implementation
• Conduct audits of grades 3-4 curriculum including unit plans, lesson plans, and lesson plan feedback
• Manage the grades 3-4 curriculum split from January-June including differentiated curriculums and SGI for both NY and NJ

Assessment
• Create and/or revise grades 3-4 Math and ELA IAs including writing/revising the assessment, alignment document, excel answer key, assessment answer key, norming rubrics etc.
• Identify and train assessment reviewers for grades 3-4
• Manage network assessment cycles for Writing, Math, and ELA Assessments for grades 3-4
• Support with creation of assessment revision cycles for grades 3-4
• Research latest assessments for grades 3-4 and integrate best practices into Uncommon assessments

Professional Development
• Write and deliver high-quality, highest lever PD that addresses network observational and data needs with all supporting materials
• Facilitate network-wide Elementary School August PD
• Plan and facilitate ES DCI Meetings throughout the school year
• Plan and Facilitate ES Curriculum Revision Meetings for grades 3-4

Instructional Support
• Plan, organize, and execute ES Content Walkthroughs
• Participate in Working Groups with K-12 ConDev Team
• Participate in ES School Inspections
• Support in ES schools as needed based on AMD/CSO Guidance
Organizational Relationships
• Reports to the Director of Curriculum and Assessment, K-8
• Works closely with the Curriculum and Assessment Team, AMDs, and Lead Lesson Planners to maximize the ability of Uncommon Schools to support students’ academic success;
• Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS 
• Instructional leadership and teaching experience required: proven results in student learning as both an instructional leader and a teacher
• Curriculum and assessment writing experience required
• Experience in schools with adult learning and professional development required
• Outstanding ability to lead, including influencing and motivating others
• Ability to learn quickly and to be effective in a fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment: able to work autonomously and thoroughly with independent self-reflection, as well as take direction as needed
• Exceptional and creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and strategic planning skills
• Strong time and task management skills, enabling multiple projects to be completed on time
• Alignment to and urgency around Uncommon’s mission
• Excellent team player: always puts the team’s goals first and works to support and motivate peers
• Strong writing skills: writes with clarity, precision and power
• Ability to move comfortably between high level strategic thinking and intricate details
• Excellent ability to drive change and build buy-in through relationship building
• This role may require travel up to 25% time and requires travel to all Uncommon regions
