The Special Projects Coordinator plays a central role in ensuring there are effective and orderly school systems. In addition to maintaining the school’s administrative systems and routines, the Special Projects Coordinator interacts with a wide variety of constituents and must be able to communicate effectively with students, teachers, families, trustees, donors, and visitors. The Special Projects Coordinator will report directly to the Director of Operations.

- Collect school performance data and create data presentations;
- Write/edit letters, promotional materials (e.g., brochures, newsletters), website content, etc.;
- Organize staff events and preparing materials for staff workshops/trainings;
- Work with the school Leadership Team to ensure that all government and authorizer grant proposals and reports are completed on time;
- Serve as substitute Teacher as necessary (varies by region);
- Be present and engaged at least Monday through Friday from approximately 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM or 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM depending on the region;
- Work periodic evenings and weekends as needed; and
- Work on a year-round administrative schedule with school holidays and two weeks of summer vacation
- Student Information & Enrollment Management; effectively manages entire grade report process with a high attention to detail and quality (e.g., report card generation and printing, report card nights, Master Grade Report (if applicable), etc.)
- Child Nutrition Systems; serve as operational and financial steward of campus food service programs
- Finance; meets parent collection targets for food service, After School programming, and field trips.
- Facilities; drive facilities aesthetics & beautification initiatives
- Technology; manage daily classroom technology & regular staff technology support
- School Systems Administration; manages time and tasks effectively with a results-oriented approach: follows Daily/Weekly Schedule, ensuring all systems are completed accurately and on-time (e.g., Food service trackers, invoicing, project plans, etc.
- Student & Staff Culture; demonstrates urgency in his/her drive to support and serve the school community
- After-School Enrichment; plans and implements logistics for all enrichment programming (e.g., timesheets, supply requests, snack, transitions, dismissal processes, etc.)
- Any additional responsibilities identified by the DOO.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and Access;
- Displays maturity and ability to work independently;
- Communicates well with others and demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues and community members;
- Enjoys working with children of all ages;
- Detailed-oriented, strong follow-through skills;
- Strong time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet tight deadlines;
- Prior project planning experience preferred;
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to juggle competing priorities;
- Interest in performing a critical support role and the ability to excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, results-oriented environment;
- Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor in the face of competing demands and external pressures;
- Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities; relentless commitment to mission of educating urban students;
- Bachelor’s degree required.
