Associate Director of STEM

The Associate Director of STEM supports the professional growth of Uncommon Schools’ employees by:
  • Partnering with instructional Directors/Senior Associate Directors of various contents, the Director of Strategy and Operations, and the Chief Schools Officer to ensure the development of high quality PD content through video and associated media, including frameworks and PD session plans
  • Designing and developing new and existing content frameworks (e.g., implementation one-pagers, planning templates, written guides)
  • Codifying team-wide and working group specific content
  • Supporting the development of the agenda and materials for working group meetings
  • Supporting the development of content-specific PD sessions (e.g., Principal PD, Uncommon Summer Retreat, Leadership Development Retreat)
  • Coaching teachers in the working group to exemplary video footage
  • Conducting video analysis of teachers across our regions
  • Coordinating filming of teachers with videographers
  • Engaging in “all hands” needs from the team, including logistics and operations for cross-regional PDs
  • Strong and creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and strategic planning skills, including the ability to disaggregate problems and structure complex issues
  • Takes joy in analysis and detail-oriented tasks
  • Urgency around Uncommon’s mission
  • Professional demeanor with the ability to facilitate decision-making among multiple parties
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and take initiative
  • Ability to learn quickly and to be effective in a fast-paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
  • School Leadership experience in schools and/or with adult learning and professional development strongly preferred
  • This role may require travel up to 25% time
